Aoi

Aoi is one of the major characters and the first character to join Lacie in the party. Lacie can encounter them by stepping into the Fairy Ring with Scissors in her inventory. Aoi is genderfluid as their pronouns change as frequently as they’re mentioned.

Personality[]

Aoi is a demon who can only be described as a mix of joy and stress. It's unclear what their job is, but they work for Wendy using a sewing kit. In their free time, Aoi likes to stir up trouble, collect various knick-knacks, and have occasional panic attacks while still being an adorable little creature. They are still quite enthusiastic about waiting for the bus, as well as their love for dragons and bug catching. Aoi mentions that they aren't scared of death, but being eaten alive is definitely not their preferred way to go. They appreciate Lacie's confidence in finding solutions to problems. Their panic seems to subside when Lacie jokes, "Cut it out," and points her scissors at them, making Aoi see Lacie as both stern and comforting.

Appearance[]

Aoi is a blonde-haired demon with an orange hoodie, turtleneck, and tie. Their body is composed of a gelatinous substance similar to goo, allowing them to shape it as they please, but they consistently struggle with forming hands correctly. Under extreme amounts of stress, Aoi begins to melt until they have time to take a breath and collect themselves.

Inventory[]

Aoi carries four items when Lacie meets them: a poisonous chocolate bar, a stolen sewing kit from work, a cabbage they cannot chop open, and a fish that took up their entire allowance but likely tasted good. If Aoi leaves the fairy ring, they promise Lacie to always bring scissors with them, and Lacie can choose to give Aoi her own scissors. Additionally, Lacie may decide to give Aoi an Artist's Inspiration to add to their inventory.

Dragons[]

Aoi sees a large skeleton in a fairy ring and immediately thinks it's a dragon. They find it cool that humans have dragons in their world and wish they had dragons where they live too.

Closet friend[]

Aoi used to have a friend that they would often meet in the supply closet, but the friend died. Despite this, Aoi doesn't appear to be upset, just panicky and adorable as usual.

Saving Aoi[]

Lacie can buy 99 fish from Alba by collecting 10 coins. By facing the mirror on the large tree, she can throw all her fish down it. After that, she should walk into the fairy ring and proceed normally until the bathtub cutscene, where Lacie and Aoi will be saved. Eventually, they will have to part ways.
