Chapter 1[]
Forest[]
When Lacie meets the prisoner after unlocking a padlock ladder, he greets her deviously and reveals that Red was the one who imprisoned him due to his troubling nature and curse-casting abilities. This revelation leaves Lacie questioning if the prisoner had a role in her own curse. However, when Lacie asks for an explanation, the prisoner invites her to come closer, giving the player a decision to make.
If Lacie decides to step closer, the prisoner grabs her, triggering a minigame where the player must press a button when the white line aligns with the green part of the bar and needs to be completed successfully four times in a row to finish the minigame. After completing the minigame, Lacie manages to pull away, feeling deceived and questions if he cursed her, but he denies it, saying he can only curse and live. Confused, she agrees to a deal - she can do something he asks in exchange for an answer to her question. He asks her to find a jar of slugs in the room and bring it to him, promising to continue their conversation. Reluctant to get closer to him, he suggests she throw it to him from where she's standing and calls her a scaredy cat.
After handing over the jar, the prisoner reveals he can only cast curses while alive, mentioning demons can curse on their dying breath. He explains he can place thousands of curses with no repercussions, which led to his imprisonment. The prisoner notices Lacie's human nature and aura, suggesting she needs Red's help to remove her curse. Lacie mentions being told to head to the lighthouse and go north, but the prisoner warns that she will die if she tries to pass through the locked site. Lacie asks what other options she has, and he responds that there is always a choice; she just needs to explore the room more thoroughly.
Lacie spots a large mirror in the corner and suspects there is something hidden behind it. She kicks the mirror and discovers a door with a keypad lock. The prisoner offers her a shortcut if she retrieves a blue light for him in exchange for the code. Lacie is unsure how to obtain the blue light, but the prisoner mentions a candle-seller who may have them.
After giving the blue light to the prisoner, he is amazed and grateful for it, indicating it has been a long time since he last saw such a light. Lacie has to bring him back to reality, but he quickly returns the favor by providing her with a code for a locked door. When Lacie asks about his name, he replies that they don't need to form a close bond as their time together might be short. However, he promises to properly introduce himself if they meet again.
